titleOfInvention Dispersion nuclear fuel and plate-core fuel element made from it for fast reactors, in particular for fast, ultra-high-flow reactors
abstract A matrix of pure Cu or Cu based alloys which has a high thermal conductivity but a low rate of absorption of fast neutrons is impregnated either with fissionable material or with breeder material. UO2 and/or PuO2 may be used. The Cu based alloy contains at least one element from the Ni, Al, Cr group. The particle size of the active material is less than 200 mu m. A homogeneous powder mixture is made of the active material and Cu or Cu alloy powder, this is then pressed into plates and sintered.
