abstract | A reaction forming solid material on the interfaces of an expandable foam (pref. containing urethane and/or urea and/or amide and/or isocyanurate groups, with open cells; esp. an open-celled elastic polyurethane foam, apparent density 8-60 kg/m3., in 3-50mm pieces) is effected by addition, polyaddition, condensation, polycondensation, radical or ionic polymerisation, copolymerisation, oxidation, reduction, double decomposition, diazotisation or cross-linking precipitation. At least one reactant, as gas, vapour or liquid, is distributed to the interface during reaction and has an expanding action, opt. catalysed. |
