titleOfInvention Alkylation process
abstract The olefin/recycled H2SO4 absorption product containing dialkyl sulphate is treated with acid to remove oily impurities prior to the separation of the dialkyl sulphate for supply to the alkylation zone. The process pref. uses isobutane, olefin feed containing propylene and >=85% H2SO4. Pref. the absorption proudct is treated with acid to form an acid-oil complex and the dialkyl sulphate is extracted from the acid treated absorption mixture with isobutane, the extract being passed to the alkylation zone. The process enables the acid-oil complex contaminants to be removed from the absorption product without prior phase separation, and the resultant organic phase fed to the alkylation is contaminant free.
