abstract Bismuth salts of inositolhexaphosphoric acid of formula (I):- (I) may be used for the treatment of gastrointestinal illnesses such as gastric and duodenal ulcers, intestinal ulcers, diarrhoea, etc. (I) contains more bismuth than known cpds. and has very good neutralising and absorbing properties. An aqueous solution of inositolhexaphosphoric acid is reacted with an acetic acid solution of bismuth nitrate pentahydrate. The mixture is boiled after precipitation of the basic bismuth inositolhexaphosphate and cooled. The precipitate is washed and dried.
