abstract | The appts. is for the simultaneous display of a direct image and a stored image onto the screen of a storage oscilloscope or similar equipment. It is also applicable to direct incoming signals being shown on part of a screen whilst other information is being handled. The electron beam used to write the direct image is an interrupted format assessed for voltage level so that its display matches, in intensity, that of the image being more permanently displayed. The beam is switched on and off under control of a pulse generator (56,62) and whilst off is held below a threshold level to prevent display. The display tube (10) has a phosphorescent storage dielectric display layer (14) over a transparent conducting zinc oxide film (16) which is signal and collector electrode for the display layer (14) with both supported on a glass front screen (12) to the tube (10). |
