abstract Useful as vulcanising/hardening agent for urethane rubbers, in high yields by condensation of o-chloroaniline with HCHO, pref. in mole proportion 2-3:1, by heating in presence of HCl in aqs. medium, characterised by adding a water-immiscible organic solvent and separating the desired product, preferably, by neutralising the reaction mass, separating the organic layer and then either allowing the product to crystallise, or distilling off solvent and excess o-chloroaniline leaving the product as a melt; or by diluting the reaction mass with H2O, separating aqs. neutralising this phase and separating the product by filtration.
