abstract An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) has voltage and reference input terminals, buffer circuitry, and control logic. The buffer circuit has input and output terminals and a variable resistor with resistive branches connected in parallel. The control logic is configured to determine, in a calibration phase, a given gain value for which the gain error is to be calibrated, a set of the resistive branches in the buffer circuit to be used to achieve the given gain value, a further resistive branch of the variable successively activating resistors of the set until all resistive branches of the set have been activated, determining an output code resulting after activating all resistive branches of the set, and determining from the output code a gain error of the given gain value. The control logic is further arranged to take corrective action based on the gain error of the given gain value.
