Processes for treating platelet compositions (for example platelet concentrates and / or platelet lysates) with electron beams are specified, the compositions being in a frozen state during the irradiation with the electron beam irradiation. The methods can be carried out using electron beam irradiation at doses that are effective in reducing the pathogen content of the compositions while maintaining the highly beneficial bioactivities of the compositions. Also disclosed are compositions that can be made by the methods, as well as methods and compositions that involve the use of the electron beam treated materials. |
