abstract Methods and architectures for improving the operation of 9-1-1 networks and other emergency service networks. Enriched data (eg, text messages, video, phase II position information, etc.) may be transmitted to a PSAP via a secondary communication channel (ie, data), the primary communication channel being a voice telephony trunk. Disclosed embodiments may increase the speed with which accurate position information is made available, thus improving the accuracy of call routing and reducing distribution time. Some embodiments may also allow for continued operation of legacy emergency services systems during and after transition to next-generation systems.
