| abstract | An optical computing device includes a light source that emits electromagnetic radiation into a beam path that extends from the light source to a detector. A substance interacts visually with the electromagnetic radiation. A processor assembly is positioned in the beam path and includes a plurality of integrated computing element (ICE) cores that optically interact with the electromagnetic radiation, the detector receiving modified electromagnetic radiation obtained by optically interacting the electromagnetic radiation with the substance and the processor is generated. A weighting arrangement is positioned in the beam path and includes a plurality of weighting devices that optically apply corresponding weighting factors to the modified electromagnetic radiation. An array of angle selective broadband filters (BASF) is positioned in the beam path to selectively pass electromagnetic radiation at a predetermined angle of incidence. The detector generates an output signal indicative of a characteristic of the substance. |
