abstract Organic electroluminescent device containing anode, cathode and at least one emitting layer which contains at least one phosphorescent compound A and at least one compound B, characterized in that the following relationships (1) or the following relationships (2) apply to compounds A and B : (1) a) T 1 (B) ≥ ΔE, where ΔE = | HOMO (A) | - | LUMO (B) |; b) T 1 (A) ≥ ΔE, where ΔE = | HOMO (A) | - | LUMO (B) |; c) | HOMO (B) | > | HOMO (A) |; and d) | LUMO (B) | > | LUMO (A) |; where for relationship (1) the compound B is selected from the group consisting of aromatic ketones, aromatic phosphine oxides, aromatic sulfoxides, aromatic sulfones, triazine derivatives, pyrimidine derivatives, pyridine derivatives, zinc complexes, aluminum complexes, diazaphospholes, azaboroles, Boronic esters, boranes or triphenylene derivatives; or (2) a) T 1 (B) ≥ ΔE, where ΔE = | HOMO (B) | - | LUMO (A) |; b) T 1 (A) ≥ ΔE, where ΔE = | HOMO (B) | - | LUMO (A) |; c) | LUMO (A) | > | LUMO (B) |; and d) | HOMO (A) | > | HOMO (B) |; where for relationship (2) the compound B is selected from the group consisting of carbazole derivatives, bridged carbazole derivatives, indolocarbazole derivatives, indenocarbazole derivatives, azacarbazole derivatives, dibenzofuran and dibenzothiophene derivatives and diazasilol or tetraazole derivatives; where T 1 (A) or T 1 (B) each represents the lowest triplet energy in eV of compound A or B; and where HOMO (A) and HOMO (B) respectively represent the energy level of the HOMO in eV relative to the vacuum of compound A and B, respectively; and where LUMO (A) and LUMO (B) respectively represent the energy level of the LUMO in eV relative to the vacuum of compound A and B, respectively; the following materials are excluded from the invention as compound B:
