abstract | There is provided a surface-modified metal oxide powder obtained by surface-treating a metal oxide powder, wherein the ratio (A / B) of the initial triboelectrostatic charge amount (A) falls within one minute after dispersion of the surface-modified metal oxide powder into a ferrite carrier to the tribo-electrostatic charge amount (B) For a further 30 minutes in the range between 1.0 and 2.0 and the triboelectrostatic charge quantity (B) after the period in the range between -300 and +300 μC / g. The surface-modified metal oxide powder of the present invention has a weaker charging property and a better stability over time for a triboelectrostatic charge amount than a conventional one, and thus, when this powder is used as an external additive, various properties including flowability and electric charge can be stabilized and, moreover, problems such as fogging and image deterioration can be drastically improved without significantly deteriorating characteristics as developers and the like. |
