A method of repairing a barrier coating comprising: Providing a component having a barrier coating having at least one damaged portion; Removing the damaged portion of the barrier coating leaving a void in the barrier coating; Applying a tape cast replacement barrier coating to the void of the barrier coating, wherein the barrier coating has a barrier coating composition, wherein the barrier coating composition is at least one of an environmental barrier coating composition selected from the group consisting of BSAS, a rare earth monosilicate, a rare earth disilicate, mullite, silicon and combinations thereof, and or a thermal barrier coating composition selected from the group consisting of yttria-stabilized zirconia, yttria-stabilized hafnia, zirconia stabilized with calcia, baria, magnesia, strontia, ceria, ytterbia, lutetia, gadolinia, neodymia, and combinations thereof, hafnia stabilized with calcium oxide, barium oxide, magnesium oxide, strontium oxide, cerium oxide, ytterbium oxide, lutetium oxide and combinations thereof, rare earth silicates, rare earth monosilicates, zirconium, hafnone, BSAS, mullite, magnesium aluminate spinel, rare earth aluminates and combinations thereof; and Sintering the component with the tape cast replacement barrier coating layer. |
