abstract |
A method relating to a catalyst-coated polymer electrolyte membrane comprising: Forming a catalyst layer on a substrate, the catalyst layer having a width and a length, the catalyst layer having a variable catalyst activity profile across the width of the catalyst layer; Depositing the catalyst layer adjacent a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) to form an interposer; Applying pressure to the interposer sufficient to bond the catalyst layer to the PEM; Removing the substrate to produce a catalyst coated multi-width membrane; and Slicing the catalyst-coated membrane with multiple width along the length of the catalyst layer to form single-width catalyst-coated membranes. |
