titleOfInvention | Bending beams made of high-strength steel in combination with steel of lower strength or in combination with carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) |
abstract | Cross-sections of steel bending beams according to the prior art consist of materials with approximately the same strengths and expansion potentials. The fatigue strength of welded steel beams is almost independent of the strength of the steels, making the use of high-strength steels uneconomical. These drawbacks can be avoided by the design of bending beam cross-sections of high-strength base profiles with a yield strength σ s1 , in which consistent residual stresses σ E1 are generated by the proposed manufacturing processes, and of low-strength cross-sectional supplements with a yield strength σ s2 , in which residual stresses σ E2 for equilibrium reasons arise with the opposite sign. The stress differences between basic profile and cross-sectional supplements are designed by the proposed manufacturing process so that both materials whose tensile and strength potentials must be many times different from each other, reach their yield strength at the same time when the bending beam is stressed to the limit load capacity. The invention increases the carrying capacity of bending beams, allows the utilization of the strengths of very different materials and can lead to significant weight savings. |
