titleOfInvention | Method for determining storage time and age of erythrocyte-containing blood conserves using 31P-NMR and artificial neural networks |
abstract | The determination of the expired storage time or remaining storage time of erythrocyte-containing blood conserves on the uptake 31 P-NMR spectra is based on the temporal degradation of adenosine triphosphate to inorganic phosphorus compounds in the blood. The known from the literature method of evaluation of individual peaks in terms of their height and position has a reasonable expenditure on equipment and the cost-determining measurement time a large uncertainty. For this reason, the known methods have hitherto not been used for the exact determination of the canned age. The new method utilizes the information of the entire present spectrum through the use of an artificial neural network. As a result, during the learning phase, all correlations between the age of the stored blood and the properties of the spectrum are determined and utilized later in the application phase. Using the example of a Kohonen network, the application of the new method is demonstrated. With the inclusion of many correlation pathways, the accuracy is correspondingly greater, allowing use for routine use to determine the elapsed storage time and age of stored blood. |
