titleOfInvention Method and device for measuring flow velocities
abstract A method is proposed for measuring flow velocities of an electrolyte solution flowing in a flow direction in a flow channel, in particular with a low flow rate. For this purpose, a voltage pulse is applied to the electrolyte solution at a pulse electrode location, an electrical parameter of the electrolyte solution changing, and the change in the electrical parameter of the electrolyte solution is detected with a pair of measuring electrodes arranged at a distance in the flow direction. the flow rate can be determined from the time difference between the voltage pulse instant and the measurement signal instant. The method is particularly suitable for measuring the low flow rate of body fluids in microfluidic systems.
