abstract |
Device and method for cleaning an exhaust gas emission from an internal combustion engine (1), having an exhaust gas emission purification catalyst (52), which is arranged in an outlet passage (11) of the internal combustion engine (1) and which is able to carry out an exhaust gas emission purification process for purifying the exhaust gas emission from the Engine to perform so that the exhaust emission purification process is promoted by a reducing agent which is injected into the exhaust emission through an injection nozzle ((21) which is arranged at a portion of the exhaust passage upstream of the catalyst and which can be actuated so that the reducing agent in the Exhaust gas emission flowing into the catalyst may be injected to promote the exhaust emission purification process, wherein control means (22) are provided for controlling the opening operations of the injector to effect a nozzle cooling pattern of the injection of the reducing agent into the exhaust gas emission t to cool the injector so as to prevent an excessive temperature rise of the injector as a result of contact of the injector with the exhaust gas emission, so that the nozzle cooling pattern of the injection differs from an emission cleaning promotion pattern of the injection for promoting the exhaust emission cleaning process, whereby the injector ( 21) is effectively cooled. |
