titleOfInvention Aerated concrete adsorbents, process for their preparation and their use
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of adsorbents based on aerated concrete materials, which are useful for the separation of heavy metal ions from waste water. An essential aspect of the invention is therefore the first-time use of aerated concrete materials as adsorbents for wastewater treatment, in particular for the adsorption of toxic heavy metal ions. Particularly inexpensive can be used as aerated concrete materials that arise as a powdery waste product in the processing of aerated concrete elements. The aerated concrete materials can include tobermorite, quartz, calcite, dolomite, albite, caolinite, biotite and orthoclase, with tobermorite and quartz being the main components. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for separating toxic heavy metal ions from waste water using the adsorbents based on aerated concrete. The inventors of the present invention have found that granular aerated concrete materials adsorb toxic heavy metal ions, e.g., chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper, cadmium, mercury, thallium, lead, bismuth, uranium and thorium, from aqueous solutions and instead Release non-toxic metal ions, especially sodium and calcium ions. An important aspect of the present invention is the knowledge that in the inventive adsorption of toxic heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions (waste water) ...
