titleOfInvention Process for removing 2-butanol from tert-butanol / water mixtures
abstract The present invention relates to a process for the separation of 2-butanol from tert-butanol / water mixtures, which are obtained in the cleavage of tert-butanol (TBA), produced from technical C 4 -hydrocarbon mixtures, to give isobutene and water. When technical TBA or TBA / water azeotrope is split into isobutene and water, a TBA / water mixture is obtained after separation of the resulting isobutene, in which 2-butanol (SBA) is enriched. Without separation of 2-butanol, this mixture is not suitable for the production of commercially available TBA or TBA / water azeotropes. According to the invention, the mixture is first brought to a concentration of water which is greater, but close to the limit concentration of the distillation limit line connecting the two azeotropes TBA / water and SBA / water, and then by changing the pressure, the position of the composition of the Mixture changed such that the concentration of water is less than the limit concentration of the distillation limit line connecting the two azeotropes TBA / water and SBA / water, and then the mixture is worked up by distillation.
