abstract Water-absorbing, predominantly open-cell, foam-shaped, crosslinked acid groups containing polymers which contain at least one odor control agent which reduces the formation of odors on contact with body fluids and is selected from the group of the compounds containing DOLLAR A (a) anhydride groups, DOLLAR A (b) acid groups containing compounds, DOLLAR A (c) cyclodextrins, DOLLAR A (d) bactericides and DOLLAR A (e) as well as surface-active agents with an HLB value below 12. DOLLAR A Use of at least one of the compounds (a) to (e) for the treatment of water-absorbing, predominantly open-cell, foam-shaped, crosslinked acid groups containing polymers as a means of odor control when the water-absorbing polymers come into contact with body fluids.
