titleOfInvention Device for carrying out coloring and hybridization reactions
abstract The invention relates to a device for carrying out complex protocols in immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization on biological samples on slides or comparable holders. The main purpose of the invention is to provide a device by means of which such protocols can be carried out in a suitable machine. This is solved by a device in which at least one slide with a biological sample, a cover plate and a sealing washer are clamped in such a way that a narrow gap is created between the slide and cover plate. Liquid applied to the upper edge of the gap runs into it and is held by capillary forces. New liquid is poured onto the gap from above and displaces the liquid contained in the gap. Several pairs of specimen slide and cover plate are held in a clamping device by sealing washers, the sealing washers forming a reservoir over each pair of specimen slide and cover plate. The reservoir can be filled manually or by means of a pipetting robot. The liquid applied runs into the associated gap. The clamping device with at least one pair of specimen slide and cover plate is held in a heatable, moist chamber for experiments in in situ hybridization. This reduces evaporation to an acceptable level via the laterally open gap areas.
