titleOfInvention | Method and device for determining the polarization mode dispersion of an optical element |
abstract | To determine the polarization mode dispersion of an optical element, an interferometer with two arms is used, between which there is a path length difference and which combine in a beam coupler. A photon pair source generates those photons which interfere with each other in fourth order interference in the radiation coupler and which trigger either coincidence or anti-coincidence of two detectors. A curve is determined which, at least approximately, indicates the number of coincidences or the probability of coincidence as a function of the path length difference. The amount of polarization mode dispersion of the optical element is determined from the course of the curve. |
