titleOfInvention Transceiver and method for packet retransmission in a mobile communication system
abstract A transceiver and method for retransmitting a packet in a mobile communication system is described. Upon request for retransmission from a receiver, a transmitter inverts initially transmitted coded bits if the retransmission of the same data is odd, modulates the inverted bits and transmits the modulated bits to the receiver. Then the receiver recovers the coded bits by demodulation. If the encoded bits are retransmitted an odd number of times, the receiver decodes the encoded bits after inversion. Thus, the error probabilities of the initially transmitted bits and the retransmitted bits are averaged in effect, and the decoding performance is improved.
