titleOfInvention | Manufacture of molded articles based on starch gel |
abstract | The present invention provides starch gels, in particular single-phase starch gels in a thermodynamically metastable, frozen state, for the production of molded articles containing active ingredients. The gel structure results from a molecularly disperse mixture of non-gelling starches with a comparatively low plasticizer content before the mixing process and gelling starches with a comparatively high plasticizer content before the mixing process primarily through interactions of non-gelling starches with gelling starches. Overheating and subsequent subcooling of the gelling starches before the mixing process and kinetic control of the gel formation are essential for setting the single-phase state and the desired properties of the gels. Compared to existing approaches to solving the gelatin problem in the area of soft capsules, decisive improvements can thus be obtained, which relate in particular to brittleness, storage stability under changing conditions and sorption behavior. |
