abstract The present invention relates to yttrium aluminum garnet fluorescent powder having the formula (Y¶3-xy¶Z¶x¶Eu¶y¶) Al¶5¶O¶12¶ or (Y¶3¶Z¶x¶Eu¶y¶) Al ¶5¶O¶12¶, where 0 <x 0.8, 0 <y 1.5 and Z is selected from the group consisting of rare earth metals, excluding europium (Eu). The present invention further relates to a pink light-emitting device which comprises a light-emitting diode as a luminescent element and a fluorescent body containing yttrium aluminum garnet fluorescent powder, the diode emitting light with a wavelength in the range from 370 to 410 nm, which then produces yttrium aluminum garnet fluorescent powder in the fluorescent body to emit another light with a wavelength in the range of 585 nm to 700 nm, so that the two lights combine to produce pink light. The present invention further relates to the production of the yttrium aluminum garnet fluorescent powder.
