Provided are a negative electrode intended for use in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprising a porous metal body as a current collector, containing a skeleton-forming agent which has penetrated into the current collector to a large extent, so that it is less likely is subject to structural degradation and provides improved cycle stability; and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising such a negative electrode. The negative electrode for use in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a current collector having a porous metal body; a first negative electrode material disposed in pores of the porous metal body and comprising a conductive auxiliary, a binder, and a negative electrode active material comprising a silicon-based material; and a second negative electrode material disposed in pores of the porous metal body and comprising a skeleton-forming agent comprising a silicate having a siloxane bond. |
