A method for measuring vital functions is proposed, with a magnetic field measurement being carried out using a magnetometer (10), with the magnetometer (10) having a diamond (13) with a nitrogen vacancy center, a light source (11), a microwave source (14), and a photodetector (17), wherein the nitrogen vacancy center is excited by light emitted by the light source (11), the diamond (13) being exposed to microwaves from the microwave source (14), the nitrogen vacancy center being Fluorescent light emitted from the center is detected by the photodetector (17), a magnetic field being determined from the spectrum of the fluorescent light, and an evaluation device (20) assigning a vital state from a set of vital states to the determined magnetic field. |
