abstract |
Non-destructive method of characterizing CMAS infiltration in thermal or environmental barrier coatings, comprising: i. Providing a metallic structure with a barrier coating after potential CMAS infiltration; ii. Analyze the metallic structure by means of 3D Raman mapping with the 3D Raman mapping a) Surface Raman mapping and b) there is depth profiling and xy mapping; and iii. Determine the concentration of any phase that is present in the barrier coating and undergoes a phase transition induced by CMAS infiltration that is detectable by the Raman technique. |
