abstract The invention relates to a system and method for quantifying blood loss based on contrast agent-based computed tomographic imaging of a patient's body strain. For this purpose, first image data (BD) of a computed tomography (CT) are read in order to apply thereto an image analysis method (2) for the automatic detection of blood accumulations. Subsequently, a differentiation method (3) for differentiation between pathological and physiological blood clusters and a quantification algorithm (4) for calculating and outputting (5) a blood loss value for the pathological blood clots are carried out.
