abstract Shown is a process for producing a porous material for use as a catalyst material. The method comprises pressing and sintering a mixture comprising an oxide and nanoparticles to form a porous ceramic template, wherein the oxide comprises a first material and the nanoparticles comprise a second material. The method further comprises performing a chemical vapor deposition process by supplying a hydrogen-containing gas at a temperature that is higher than a melting point of the first material and less than a melting point of the second material.
