abstract Method for producing an intraocular lens (1) from a blank (2) made of plastic, wherein a material removal (4) is achieved on the blank (2) with an ablation laser (3) and the blank (2) pretreated with the ablation laser (3) with a polishing laser (20) is further processed, characterized in that by evaporation of the blank in the region in which the laser meets the blank, a material removal of 0.01 to 10 microns per pulse at a pulse energy of 0.1 μJ to 10 μJ, a pulse duration of less than 1 ns, a laser wavelength between 193 nm and 370 nm and a focus diameter between 5 and 50 microns is achieved.
