abstract The invention relates to an electrolyte (6, 7) for a redox flow energy store (1). According to the invention, the electrolyte (6, 7) is a solution which comprises vanadium (V) oxide or sodium bromide and 0.035% by weight of [(3aR, 4S, 9aS, 9bR) -4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-methylidene- 2,7-dioxo-4,5,9a, 9b-tetrahydro-3aH-azuleno [8,7-b] furan-9-yl] methyl 2- (4-hydroxyphenyl) acetate and 0.01% by volume of 1H , 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecanol. The invention further relates to a method for producing such an electrolyte (6, 7). Furthermore, the invention relates to a redox flow energy storage device (1), comprising two half-cells (2, 3) each having an electrode (4, 5) and in each case an electrolyte (6, 7) and at least one separator (10) on which the electrolytes (6, 7) are passable. According to the invention, at least one of the electrolytes (6, 7) comprises a solution of vanadium (V) oxide or sodium bromide, 0.035% by weight of [(3aR, 4S, 9aS, 9bR) -4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-methylidenes -2,7-dioxo-4,5,9a, 9b-tetrahydro-3aH-azuleno [8,7-b] furan-9-yl] methyl 2- (4-hydroxyphenyl) acetate and 0.01% by vol. 1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluorodecanol.
