titleOfInvention | Liquid electrolytic capacitor for an implantable medical device |
abstract | Provided is a liquid electrolytic capacitor including a cathode, a liquid working electrolyte, and a planar anode formed of an anodically oxidized porous sintered body. The sintered body may be formed of a pressed valve metal powder, which in turn is formed by reacting an oxide of a valve metal compound (eg, tantalum pentoxide) with a reducing agent containing a metal having an oxidation state of 2 or more (eg, magnesium ) contains. The inventors have discovered that using such a powder can achieve higher capacitance values than previously thought possible for the high voltage capacitors used in implantable medical devices. |
