abstract A process for the production of epoxides from gaseous alkenes by enzymatic catalysis, the process comprising the steps of: a) providing at least one gaseous alkene, at least one oxygen donor, at least one oxygen acceptor and at least one enzyme having perhydrolase activity, b) reacting the at least an oxygen acceptor provided in step a) with the at least one oxygen donor provided in step a) in the presence of the at least one enzyme having perhydrolase activity provided in step a) to give at least one peroxy acid, c) reacting the at least one in step a) provided gaseous alkene with the at least one produced in step b) peroxy acid, so that at least one epoxide is obtained, andd) recovering the at least one epoxide.
