There are disclosed articles comprising a catalyst film deposited on a substrate comprising VOx, MoO 3 or WO 3 and TiO 2 . The articles can be used for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOx in exhaust gases. In methods of making such articles, a catalyst film is deposited on the substrate, yielding a coated substrate which is then calcined. When used in an SCR process, the coated articles have increased NOx conversion activity and / or reduced SOx conversion activity. It is possible to produce lightweight, coated articles with high catalyst loadings of the same or reduced dimensions compared to laminated articles, and even with coated articles having relatively thin catalyst films, increased kNOx / kSOx ratios are obtainable. The articles should have a particular value for the power plant operation, which commonly uses coal and fuels rich in sulfur and the limitation of sulfur trioxide formation is critical. |
