abstract | The invention relates to a gas generator (10), in particular for a safety device in vehicles, having a fuel container (28; 28 ') in which a combustible solid fuel is absorbed under heat development, a compressed gas filled pressure chamber (20) passing through a membrane (16) is sealed off from the environment of the gas generator (10), and a lighter (14) which releases the fuel from the fuel container (28, 28 ') upon activation of the gas generator, the compressed gas containing and including at least one gaseous oxidant an activation of the gas generator (10) is a flow connection between the pressure chamber (20) and the fuel container (28; 28 '), so that the compressed gas and the fuel are in direct contact with each other, and wherein the lighter (14) pressure-tight with respect to the fuel container (28, 28 ') and the pressure chamber (20) is completed. |
