abstract | The invention is based on a method for classifying a vehicle (2), in which an image (8) of the vehicle (2) is recorded (6), from which image (8) characteristic image features are determined (12), the characteristic image features is compared (20) with features from a vehicle database (16) containing a plurality of characteristic features containing descriptions of different vehicle classes, and the recorded vehicle (2) is associated with a vehicle class described in the vehicle database (16) (26). In order to enable a quick classification, it is proposed that key points in the image (8) of the vehicle (2) are determined as characteristic image features (12) and at least one multi-dimensional vehicle descriptor for each key point. |
