The lighting device (1, W) has at least one primary light source (2), a phosphor volume (4) spaced apart from it for at least partially converting the primary light (P) into secondary light (S), at least one light sensor (5, 7) for detecting by means of at least one primary light source (P) generated light (P, S) and an evaluation device (9) for determining a case of damage of the phosphor volume (4), wherein the lighting device (1, W) at least one additional light source (Z1, Z2, Z3) for irradiation of the phosphor volume (4) and is adapted to operate the at least one additional light source (Z1, Z2, Z3), the at least one light sensor (5, 7) and the evaluation device (9) with the primary light source (2) switched off. A method is used to determine a damage case of a phosphor volume (4) of a lighting device (1, W), the method comprising at least the following steps: irradiating a phosphor volume (4) only by means of the additional light source (Z1, Z2, Z3) and determining a damage case of the phosphor volume (4) on the basis of sensor data of at least one light sensor (5, 7). |
