titleOfInvention A method for determining a hematocrit-dependent measurement signal in the determination of an analyte from whole blood using single-use enzymatic-voltammetric sensors
abstract The invention relates to a method for determining a hematocrit-dependent measurement signal in the determination of an analyte from whole blood using electron mediator-containing enzymatic-voltammetric disposable-use sensors. The mediator is in excess of the highest analyte concentration that can be determined by the sensor. After completion of the concentration measurement by switching the polarization voltage opposite to the indication reaction redox reaction of the mediator is generated at maximum reaction rate at the working electrode surface and starting 0.5 to 2.0 s after reaching the opposite polarization voltage within an interval between 0.1 s and 2 s, the current values or, in the form of their charge values within the interval, provide a hematocrit-dependent and analyte-independent signal. The method according to the invention is particularly suitable for hematocrit correction of concentration values which are determined by means of enzymatic-voltammetric disposable-use sensors.
