abstract | Described is a novel process for the stabilization of hydroxy-terminated siloxanes having a cyclic siloxane content of at most 5% by weight, based on the total weight of hydroxy-terminated siloxanes, by addition of ammonia in gaseous form or dissolved in one protic or aprotic solvent or in the form of an ammonia-releasing compound in amounts of at least 0.01 ppm by weight, preferably at least 1 ppm by weight, preferably at least 2.5 ppm by weight, and at most 100 ppm by weight, preferably at most 20 ppm by weight, preferably at most 10 ppm by weight, calculated in each case as ammonia and based on the total weight of the hydroxy-terminated siloxanes. Preferably, ammonia is used in gaseous form. |
