abstract In a sliding system (10) with a sliding element (12) and a counter body (14) in sliding contact with the sliding element (12), the sliding element (12) has a surface (16) at least partially coated with amorphous carbon (DLC). The amorphous carbon coated surface (16) is treated by shrinkage with a first lubricant containing at least one oxygenated organic compound. After running in, the first lubricant is replaced by a friction reducing lubricant based on hydrocarbons and optionally conventional lubricant additives.
