abstract Process for the preparation of an at least partially elastically deformable aerogel based on resorcinol-formaldehyde, characterized in that the following steps are carried out: i) preparing a solution containing distilled water, resorcinol, formaldehyde and sodium carbonate, wherein formaldehyde is in stoichiometric excess with respect to resorcinol and the molar ratio of resorcinol and water ranges from 0.006 to 0.01. ii) adjusting the pH of the solution to a range of 5.3 to 5.6 iii) gelation at a temperature of 70 to 90 ° C. iv) Cool the gel to room temperature and wash with an aprotic organic solvent. v) drying the gel at a temperature of 70 ° C to 90 ° C.
