titleOfInvention | Sealing arrangement for a liquid electrolytic capacitor |
abstract | A liquid electrolytic capacitor that includes an anode and a liquid electrolyte that are within a housing is provided. The condenser also includes a sealing arrangement in which a sleeve is inserted having opposed, inwardly facing, tapered surfaces between which an opening is defined. In order to help inhibit leakage of liquid from the opening, a liquid sealing member is also included which includes a projection having outwardly facing tapered surfaces configured to mate with the inwardly facing surfaces of the Sleeve are matched together. At least one outwardly facing surface of the sealing member tapers at an angle greater than the respective inwardly facing surface of the sleeve. In this way, the surfaces can converge and together form a denser wedging than would otherwise be possible if they were merely complementary to each other. This resulting wedging further reduces the likelihood of electrolyte leakage and, in turn, improves the electrical properties of the capacitor. |
