titleOfInvention Method and control unit for operating a collecting particle sensor
abstract The invention relates to a method for operating a collecting particle sensor for determining the particle content in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, wherein the particle sensor comprises at least two electrodes, wherein evaluated during a measurement phase, an impedance change between the electrodes by particles deposited from the exhaust gas for determining the particle content in the exhaust gas is heated and wherein the particle sensor for the regeneration of a heating element in such a way to a regeneration temperature that the deposited particles burn. It is provided that, in addition to the regeneration, a partial regeneration is carried out in comparison with the regeneration reduced temperature of the particle sensor. The invention further relates to a control unit for carrying out the method. The method and the control unit enable a gentle regeneration and thus an extension of the life expectancy of the particle sensor.
