titleOfInvention | Mass spectrometer comprising detector arrays |
abstract | Mass spectrometers are proposed that are particularly useful for the study of ion beams over a wide range of ion masses, wherein individual beams of ions of different mass are imaged on a slot array in a slot array plate (7), the pitch of the slots being the pitch of the set of Ion beams (1 to 6) resulting from the magnetic fanning of a mixed ion beam from a source. Individual detectors (8, 9, 10, 17, 18, 19), e.g. B. Faraday cups are associated with each slot. According to the invention, a number of electrostatic analyzers (14, 15, 16) are disposed between some or all of the slots in the slot assembly plate (7) through which ions of higher mass than the major species in the ion beam pass to scattered ions and Trap electrons and accordingly increase the sensitivity of the device considerably. |
