abstract |
A fuel composition for a direct injection diesel engine, a method of improving the performance of fuel injectors, and a method of cleaning fuel injectors for a diesel engine. The fuel composition includes a major constituent amount of a fuel and an effective minor amount of a quaternary ammonium salt having a thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) weight loss of greater than 50 wt% at 350 ° C. The amount of quaternary ammonium salt present in the fuel is sufficient to match the performance of the direct fuel injection diesel engine which has burned the composition as compared to the performance of such an engine which has burned a fuel composition that does not contain the quaternary ammonium salt , to improve. |
