abstract | The invention relates to a method for checking a soot filter arranged in a exhaust gas tract through which exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine can flow by means of a soot sensor. The soot sensor is arranged downstream of the soot filter in a line element of the exhaust tract, which is traversed by a soot particle with a soot mass flow transporting exhaust gas flow, wherein deposited on and / or on the soot sensor at least a portion of the soot particles contained in the soot mass cumulatively cumulative.
