titleOfInvention | Tires, in particular self-balancing tires, and methods of making same |
abstract | A tire, in particular a self-balancing tire, is described, as well as a method for its manufacture and an unvulcanized tire assembly for use in the manufacture of the tire. The tire has a tread (12) having a tread width (W) and defines an outermost layer and includes first and second flowable, at least partially depolymerized gel precursor materials (30A, 30B) circumferentially spaced within respective spaced apart first and second Areas (26A, 26B) are included. The first circumferential region (26A) is defined by opposing non-contacting surfaces of a first barrier layer portion and a second barrier layer portion. The second circumferential region (26B) is defined by opposing noncontact surfaces of a third barrier layer portion and a fourth barrier layer portion, the first and second circumferential regions (26A, 26B) each having an axial width in a range of 5 to 25 Percent, preferably 5 to 15 percent, of the tread width (W). |
