abstract | A capacitor comprising a solid electrolytic capacitor element comprising an anode, a dielectric and a solid electrolyte is provided. An anode terminal extends away from the anode and is electrically connected to an anode end portion. The anode end part includes an upstanding part that is bent or folded around an axis so as to have two or more sections. A slot (eg, U-shaped) extends through the portions of the upstanding portion for receiving an anode terminal. The resulting "folded" configuration of the anode end portion increases the overall thickness of the upstanding portion and the slot associated therewith, which increases the degree of mechanical support and stability that the end portion offers to the anode termination. This is particularly beneficial for thicker anode terminals, such as those having a height and / or width of about 100 μm or more, in some embodiments about 200 μm or more and in some embodiments about 250 to about 1000 μm. |
